GAME PREVIEW: DESERT DOGS LOOK TO INCH CLOSER TO PLAYOFFS VERSUS WINGS

April 07, 2026

LAS VEGAS (April 7, 2026) — The Las Vegas Desert Dogs (7–8) head east to Philadelphia to face the Wings (4–12) for the second time this season on Saturday, April 11, at 4 PM PST at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The Dogs won the first matchup at home on January 17, 10-7. Since then, the Wings have gone 3-8 and are already eliminated from playoff contention.

This could be the most important road game in Desert Dogs history to this point. There is no question this is a must-win for Las Vegas if they want to take the next step toward the playoffs. The final stretch begins on Saturday, and the Dogs are ready to make a statement.

MAMMOTH TRAMPLE OVER THE DESERT DOGS

The Desert Dogs fought hard on the road but came up short against the Colorado Mammoth. Colorado struck first with two quick goals, but Connor Kirst answered immediately off the draw. Kevin Crowley tied it, and Jonathan Donville gave Las Vegas their first lead with a power play goal. Colorado responded with a rebound in the crease to head into the second period up by one.

The middle frame was back-and-forth. Adam Poitras scooped up a loose ball to tie the game, and Crowley’s second goal on the power play sent the teams into halftime even. In the third, penalty trouble allowed Colorado to pull ahead, though Donville added his second goal to keep the Dogs within striking distance.

Las Vegas battled in the fourth, with Kyle Killen and Poitras cutting into the Mammoth’s lead, but Colorado held on for the win. In positive news, Poitras also reached a new career milestone this season, surpassing 47 points from his rookie year!

NO BROTHERLY LOVE IN PHILLY

The Philadelphia Wings have had a season to forget, sitting at 4–12, dead last in the NLL standings, and already eliminated from postseason contention. Adding to the drama, the organization announced that the team will not be staying in Philadelphia in the coming years. This week, they will play their final home game ever in the city against the Desert Dogs.

The Wings were sellers at the trade deadline, sending forward Joe Resetarits, their second-highest scorer, to the Buffalo Bandits. Brennan O’Neil leads the team with 65 points (31G, 34A), but he is the only player on the roster with over 40 points this season. Goaltending has also been a struggle, with starter Nick Damude allowing more than 11 goals per game and ranking just eleventh in goals-against average.

Despite the struggles, this Wings team enters their final home game with nothing to lose, which can make them a dangerous opponent. For the Desert Dogs, this is a game they need to win to prove they belong in the playoff hunt.
