Las Vegas, NV (July 31, 2026) - In a joint statement made by the Clark County School District and the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, the decision to implement lacrosse as a high school varsity sport is moving forward with the 2026-2027 school year.
"The Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Las Vegas Desert Dogs support the expansion of athletic opportunities for our students and families. As such, we are excited to announce that we have collaborated on a plan to provide lacrosse to both boys and girls at nine high schools during the upcoming 2026-2027 school year."
“Our commitment goes beyond the floor and into the community when we look to provide opportunities for student-athletes” said Jonah Haas, Chief Business Officer of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. "We are proud to stand by CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert and support the growth of the game and help inspire the next generation of lacrosse athletes throughout the Valley."
CCSD and the Desert Dogs have come together to identify qualified coaches and reduce costs for student-athletes who have expressed interest in participating in lacrosse at nine CCSD high schools that previously expressed interest in fielding teams for the 2026-2027 spring season.
The addition of varsity lacrosse marks another milestone in the growing partnership between CCSD and the Las Vegas Desert Dogs, expanding athletic opportunities for students while strengthening the foundation of the sport across Southern Nevada. By investing in local high school programs, the Desert Dogs are helping create a pathway for young athletes to develop their skills, compete at the varsity level, and inspire the future of lacrosse in the Las Vegas Valley
